Employment Training Services

People working

The Arc of Hilo is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to be providing services to the community. Vocational Training for people with developmental and other disabilities occurs daily at various private, county, state, and federal locations.

The mission of Employment Training Services at The Arc of Hilo is to prepare individuals with disabilities for competitive employment in the community. Services include identifying the individual's interests and skill and assessing the areas that need improvement. We offer hands-on training and support for interviews and other job skills for successful transition to employment.

The training, while in specific areas as listed below, prepares our clients to work in many different positions in the community. These areas include detailed lessons for each course and provide reasonable accommodations designed to assure that people with disabilities can succeed in the least restrictive environment.

Basic training areas:

  • Laundry
  • Grounds Keeping
  • Plant Nursery
  • Janitorial Services
